Applications of BIS for Cellular Assays
Cellular studies described here fall into four categories:
- functional studies for measurement of pharmaceutical antagonism
This includes both invoking and extinguishing antagonist-induced
calcium response.
- metabolic studies, related to oxygen and glucose consumption,
and lactate extrusion.
- redox studies, such as degradation of hydrogen peroxide by live cells
as well as monitoring of intracellular hydrogen peroxide.
- automated techniques for the counting of bead adherent cells.
The first two topics were studied by means of fluorescence microscopy,
while the remaining ones were developed with a microSI-LOV system.
